On behalf of the Scientific Committee, we have great
pleasure in inviting you to the 8th annual meeting of
the International College of Psychoneuropharmacology (ICGP)
in Sydney, Australia, Sep 3-6, 2008. The meeting
venue is the state-of-the-art Scientia Convention Centre
at the University of New South Wales.
The annual meetings of the ICGP are at the forefront of
clinical and translational research, and attract the
leaders in the fields of geriatric neuropsychiatry and
neuropsychopharmacology. The theme for this Sydney
meeting is “Protecting and repairing the ageing brain”.
We are now inviting abstracts for symposia and papers
(oral and poster) for the meeting. The guidelines for
submission of symposia and abstracts are as below. The
submissions can be made by the

submission form. Alternatively, they can be
submitted by email as a MSWord file to
icgp2008@unsw.edu.au
Deadlines:
Submission of panel proposals: Monday 31st March,
2008.
Submission of abstracts for accepted panels: Monday
2nd June, 2008.
Submission of abstracts for posters: Monday 16th
June, 2008.
Guidelines for Abstracts:
1. An Abstract comprises the following:
a. Names of authors, with the name of the presenter
underlined.
b. Affiliations
c. Content of the abstract, structured under the following
headings:
i. Background
ii. Methods
iii. Results
iv. Conclusions.
2. Do not exceed the word limit of 250 words.
3. Indicate whether it is for proposed oral or poster
presentation, or either.
4. Make a brief statement of any potential conflict of
interest .
The scientific committee will make the final decision
about the acceptance of the Abstract for the meeting
Guidelines for symposia:
- A symposium is a
detailed exposition on a particular theme by 3-4
speakers, each contributing on a different aspect of
the topic.
- The topic of the
symposium should be of direct interest to the
members of the ICGP, i.e. it should be on a
geriatric neuropsychiatry topic. However, It does
not need to be related to Psychoneuropharmacology.
- Preference will be
given to topical symposia in areas in which there
have been recent advances.
- A symposium is
generally of two hours duration and comprises 3-4
speakers. Some symposia will be 1.5 hours in
duration will only have three speakers.
- A chair and co-chair
should be identified for each symposium. These
individuals can also be speakers.
- The submission
should include an overall Abstract summarising the
content of the symposium in up to 200 words, and
listing the presenters, their affiliations and
titles of their presentations. If selected, each
presenter will be required to submit a structured
Abstract. In the submission, please state if there
is any potential of perceived conflict of interest.
- Each speaker must
sign an ‘intent to present’ form to indicate his/her
willingness to present.
- Limited funds are
available to support travel, and the symposia
eligible for such support will be selected by the
scientific committee. Other symposia will be invited
without financial support to the speakers.
- All presentations
will be in English.
